Transcript and sentences of a court martial, presided over by Marinus Willet, of two men: Walter Butler, an officer in his father's Loyalist troop, Butler's Ranger, and Joseph Schuyler, and American soldier. Butler was convicted of spyng and sentenced to death; he escaped and continued leading the Rangers, culminating in the Cherry Valley Massacre; he was killed in 1781 in a skirmish with Willet's soldiers. Schuyler was convicted of deserting and sentenced to 100 lashes and imprisonment.
